Nano Banana (images)
Nano Banana is Gemini's built-in image generator. Paying subscribers can also use Nano Banana Pro for more detailed regenerations. You generate images directly in the Gemini chat.
What it is good at
Text in images is one of Nano Banana's strongest sides, particularly for posters, mockups, banners and simple infographics. For everyday needs like social media graphics, illustrations and concept images, Nano Banana is usually more than good enough.
Compared to the competition
In our assessment Gemini is an easier choice than Midjourney for most non-specialists: you write what you want in plain language, and you can create or edit the image further in the same Gemini chat. Midjourney is stronger when the goal is maximum style control and more artistic images, but Nano Banana fits better when speed, a simple workflow and a low barrier matter most.
Limitations
Strict content filters limit creative use. Image editing is restricted on the free plan. All images are watermarked with SynthID (invisible). Some features are not available in the EU.
How to use it
Go to gemini.google.com or open the Gemini app and choose "Create image" to make one. Then write a simple prompt starting with "Make", "Generate" or "Draw", and describe the style, subject and background as concretely as you can. To edit an image you already have, upload it in the chat instead and write what you want changed.

Tips for good use
- Describe the style you want, for example: photorealistic, charcoal drawing, watercolor painting, comic illustration.
- Nano Banana is particularly good at text in images. Use it for logos, posters and banners where legible text matters.
- Upload a reference image for style. Nano Banana can imitate the lighting, color palette and composition of an example you give it.
- You don't need a perfect prompt on the first try. Generate an image and ask for changes in the same conversation: Nano Banana remembers the context and keeps editing the same image instead of starting over.
