Copilot Pages

Microsoft

Copilot Pages is best understood as a working sheet for anything that starts in Copilot Chat but is too important to leave sitting as a loose AI conversation. You can take an answer from Copilot, turn it into an editable page and keep working on it on your own or with others. That makes Pages especially useful when you actually want to use Copilot's output as the starting point for a document, not just get a quick answer.

What it's best at

Long Copilot Chat conversations tend to get messy fast, which is exactly why Pages is useful: it lets you collect and keep the specific Copilot answers you want to work on further.

Pages works best when you want to move from a normal Copilot Chat conversation to an actual first draft of some text, a plan or a note. Instead of copying text out of Copilot and pasting it somewhere else, you work on the page directly inside the Copilot interface and edit your draft while the conversation continues alongside it.

You can highlight text you've added to the page and edit it. You can also ask Copilot to rewrite a highlighted part, or the whole page. And you can share your page with others if you want them to see or edit the draft with you.

When you're done, you can export the page to Word or PDF.

What doesn't work so well

Copilot Pages is still more of a workspace than a finished document tool. If you need a lot of layout control, advanced formatting or very precise structure, Word is still the better place to end up. Pages is best early in the process, not necessarily as the final stop before delivery.

Who it's for

Copilot Pages fits people who use Copilot a lot for thinking out loud, drafting and planning, and who want to turn Copilot answers into a draft document or share them with others.

It's also a good place to collect, organise and keep the Copilot answers you want to come back to later or use for reference. If you catch yourself thinking 'this should really be a document' or 'I want to hold on to this part of the Copilot chat', Pages is worth a try.

How to use it

Create a Copilot page from a Copilot answer (the most common way)

Click the 'Edit in Pages' button on a Copilot answer you want to keep, and it turns into a page you can keep working on. Edit the content, share with colleagues via Teams or Outlook, and use Copilot directly on the page to expand or rewrite parts.

Ask Copilot explicitly to create a page

You can also ask Copilot (directly in the chat) to create a new page for you. When you do, say whether you want a blank page or a page with specific content, for example a checklist for planning a webinar.

Features

From chat to document

Turns a Copilot answer into a persistent, editable page you can keep working on and share with others.

Sharing

Share via Teams or Outlook with an interactive view (use the 'Copy component' feature).

Easier collaboration

Several people can view, comment on and edit the same content without moving it into a separate document first.

One place to work

Copilot chat on the left, Pages on the right. You can continue the Copilot conversation and add parts of the answer to your page from the same interface.

Tips for good use

  • Use Pages for Copilot answers you want to save, share or use as the starting point for a draft or further work.
  • Pages lets you edit and restructure Copilot answers, either manually or by asking Copilot to make the changes.
  • Instead of asking for a full rewrite, you usually get better results by highlighting a section and asking Copilot to improve one thing at a time, such as a heading, a summary or a bullet list.
  • Share pages via Teams or Outlook by clicking the share button and then 'Copy component' to show the page interactively inside the message.
  • You can find all your Copilot Pages under Library in the right-hand menu of Copilot in the browser (microsoft365.com).
  • Think of Pages as a middle step between a Copilot answer and a finished document. It's not just a place to save good AI answers, it's a workspace where you can actually finish a draft.
