Claude Chat
Anthropic
Claude Chat is the conversation surface on claude.ai. What makes it shine is the writing quality in Claude's answers, the analysis, and Artifacts. When Claude runs an analysis or generates code, documents or visualizations, they appear in a separate panel with a live preview. It is a great way to take in information. Claude can build interactive React components, SVG graphics or complete HTML pages, and you see the result immediately.
What you can do
Upload PDFs, images, Excel files, documents and code for analysis. Web search brings in current information. Memory keeps track of your preferences across conversations. Research mode lets Claude work on its own across many sources for a thorough report.
When do you pick Claude Chat over ChatGPT?
Claude has traditionally written better than ChatGPT. That has evened out somewhat with the latest model generations, and it is more a matter of taste now.
ChatGPT has traditionally had stronger web search, a bigger ecosystem, and image generation, which Claude lacks. Gemini is more multimodal (video, audio) and tied more closely to Google services.
When do you need more than Chat?
If you paste the same instructions or upload the same files into every new conversation, use Projects. You add the files and instructions once, and Claude remembers them across conversations.
If you need Claude to actually do something on your machine, organize files, build presentations, fill in forms, work inside apps, then Cowork or Code is what you want. Chat can talk with you. Cowork and Code can get things done.
How to use it
Go to claude.ai and create an account. Write your task or question directly, and be specific about what you need. Upload files through the paperclip icon to analyze documents, images or spreadsheets. Use web search when you need current information.
For longer output (code, articles, reports) Claude automatically generates Artifacts, interactive panels with a live preview. You can edit directly in the Artifact or ask Claude to adjust it.

Features
Artifacts
Interactive panels with a live preview of code, documents, SVG graphics and React components right in the chat.

Research
Systematic information gathering across several steps. Claude searches, analyzes and synthesizes, like a small research assistant.
Memory
Claude remembers preferences and context across conversations so you don't have to repeat yourself.
File upload and analysis
Upload PDFs, images, spreadsheets and code. Claude reads the content and answers based on it.

Claude can connect to external tools and data sources, so you can pull in context from email, calendar, Notion or hundreds of other tools. Available to free users too.
Using Claude, but not for what matters most?
We help your team use it on the tasks that matter in their work.
Tips for good use
- Artifacts are Claude's strongest card in chat. Ask for an interactive prototype, a diagram or a complete document. Claude builds it with a live preview you can show straight away.
- Give Claude a role and some context at the start of the conversation: "You are an experienced project manager helping me write a status report". It steers the tone and relevance through the whole conversation.
- Use a higher effort level for complex tasks. Claude shows you its reasoning, which helps with analysis, strategy and debugging where you need to follow the logic.
- Don't start a new conversation when the answer isn't quite right. Say make this shorter, use a more formal tone, or focus more on point 2. Claude iterates well.
- Memory lets Claude remember across conversations. Say remember that we always write reports in Norwegian in this tone, and Claude will use it going forward.
- Pick the Opus model for the best answers, especially on complex questions and analysis (available on Pro and above).
- On Team and Enterprise your conversations are not used for model training. On individual plans (Free, Pro, Max) you can opt out in settings. Worth knowing if you handle sensitive company data.
